"Not a Good Experience"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

My husband was unfortunate enough to require in-patient care at MRI. There is a good teaching and learning culture for Doctors and clearly a high level of expertise in the various fields. For us that was where the positive experience ends ! Within the nursing team there was a lack of care, compassion and communication. One or two were kind and caring but most really couldn't care less. My husband did not feel safe nor cared for and we couldn't wait for him to be discharged Hopefully we won't need this hospital again.

Response from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for your comments posted on the Patient Opinion website regarding the standard of care and expertise demonstrated by the medical staff during your husband’s recent in-patient stay. It was very kind of you to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff.

However, we are sorry to learn that your husband’s experience was not as positive as we would hope on the Vascular Ward. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible. We will raise your concerns about the attitude of the nursing staff directly with the staff involved so that they can look into them so that others don’t experience the same issues as you did.

It is difficult to respond to all the posts in a full way often because of a lack of detailed information, therefore if you would like to discuss this with us in more detail, please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
