In August 2008, I tripped and broke my humerus and dislocated my shoulder. The operation was carried out quickly, but the wound became infected as it was diagnosed by hospital staff, but by my practice nurse and GP. I was sent back straight away to hospital. I was in an open ward for 45 hours with an infection before any treatment was given. Ten days on a very strong antibiotic drip was given. Eventually the physiotherapist and I realised something was wrong and after 8 months I had another operation in Nottingham City Hospital which I hope will work. Nonetheless, the ward staff on both occasions was really good.
