"Disappointing urology treatment"

About: Worthing Hospital

My husband was seen in Day Surgery last April and was told that he would be seen in outpatients in three months. His August appointment was changed to October and this appointment was changed to March 2015 without explanation. If the trust feels it is acceptable for patients to wait a year for follow up appointments then I find this very disappointing. I tried to discuss it with a urology secretary but she made out she didn't know why it was changed. At this point I asked her to cancel the appointment and she asked if we were going private. She didn't seem able grasp that it was because of the way we were treated that made us want to cancel. Very disappointing treatment.

Please accept our apologies for this poor service from our urology department. We appreciate that the cancellations and delays that you describe particularly without any communication or reassurance from the clinical team are frustrating. We agree that this treatment is very disappointing and a source of concern and anxiety for you and your husband. We are also very sorry that the secretary responded so poorly to the concerns you raised. We have asked the managers for this service to investigate the delays and we would like to support you to arrange the appointment but as NHS Choices is a confidential service we do not have your contact details. We would therefore be grateful if you would contact our PALS service. You can do this by calling 01903 285032(office hours) or by emailing us at PALSWorthing@wsht.nhs.uk
