"I am very grateful to all those that looked after me"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Cardiology Harmoni / NHS 111

(as the patient),

A few days after my second cataract operation I was going upstairs when I became very breathless and extremely tired. I asked my wife to call 111 as I was feeling so bad.

The 111 person said a doctor would call me within an hour and he actually phoned after 1 and a quarter hours. He sent an ambulance with two paramedics to see me. As my heart rate was very high I was told not to move but to stay in bed while they brought a chair to take me down stairs and then to the Mayday hospital.

I was taken straight to the heart unit where they did a lot of tests and gave me medicine to slow my heart down. After further tests over a few days I was told I would need a pacemaker for which I received an operation and was discharged last Friday.

I am very grateful to the 111 service, to the paramedics who came and took me to hospital and to the hospital staff who looked after me. I received the best service.
