Got to the hospital today at 1115. Noticed a huge pile of faeces at the back of the Ambulance bays. Told main reception that there was a huge pile of dog faeces by the Ambulance bays. I was informed that the hospital was aware of it and it would be cleaned up. I was then told it was not dog.
At 12 the mess was still there and it was obvious it had been trodden in. I spoke to a Security Guard and, using his radio, he established that it had been reported and that it was going to be cleaned up.
At 1215 I had to leave, but still the mess had not been cleaned, and it appeared that somebody else had stepped in it.
I then went to the main reception to report it again. The lady there could not believe that it had not been cleaned up and reported it over the telephone again. She then told me that the hospital was being inspected that day,
This was totally unacceptable. It would be unacceptable anywhere, but on hospital premises with hundreds of visitors, patients and staff walking by, even more so.
I was there an hour (coming and going from the car park area) and no member of staff came to see what the problem was and certainly nobody even came and put some sort of hazard warning around it.
Very poor Southmead.
