"Pain management in A&E"

My sister in law who is 87 years old, was taken to A & E in Grimsby hospital ,after a fall at home,and transported by ambulance to the hospital she was subjected to a unqualified nurse trying unsuccessfully to get a blood sample which gave her considerable pain, I had to stop the nurse from trying yet a third time as it was obvious he didn't know what he was doing. After the usual ex-rays which the doctor who attended her said showed no sign of damage she was discharged in considerable pain and unable to walk , with a broken finger! and without receiving any kind of pain killer, this lady lives on her own, I then refused to take her back to her home due to the fact A she had had no pain killers and was unable to wqlk due to the pain in her arm and hip plus finger. after I protested to the doctor in charge a cocktail of pain killers were finally give her, I then suggested that due to the pain , and her age it would be better to keep her in hospital, his reply was there are no beds available, and he didn't have the authority, that would have to come from the social services but he would agree to send her home in an ambulance! and provision would be made for the social services to take over, in a couple of days time! I asked what help was available now or when she got home, his reply was she had been found to have no damage to herself and he had done his duty as far as he was concerned.
