I've been attending the antenatal clinic for a few weeks now and I am shocked at how overrun they are with what seems like limited staff. my key issues are a lack of communication with patients about test results (luckily i had enough knowledge to read my own results after demanding a copy), people not answering the phone for appointments and general disorganisation. I have several pre-existing conditions of which the midwife knew nothing about, even asking me to explain them to her in detail. this isn't reassuring if this is where I will give birth - especially if a complication arises during the pregnancy. I feel like i need to push for things to happen, for test results to be given to me, for scans to be booked in, its hardly the stress free environment you need when pregnant. I value the staff, they are kind and when they have time, knowledgeable but something needs to be done to make the place more professional. I guess the bottom line for me as a patient is 'do i feel safe?' and regretfully, right now, i don't.
