"I'm ignored by my husband's doctors at the Hallamshire"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My husband has been at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital because he has Alzheimer’s disease.

As the patient’s next of kin and carer I was totally ignored. I persisted in talking to the consultants but they were not available to comment on my husbands condition or future care. This is not acceptable in this day and age. Incorrect information was given on his discharge note.

I think the conduct of the consultants was not at all professional. The GP’s conduct is not at all as it should be. I was very dissatisfied on all counts. I feel it is a poor show by most of the people entrusted with my husband's care.

I feel the people at the top show a very bad example to all nursing staff and patients, carers and near relatives and should receive extra training as to what is expected of people of their standing and salary level. I have not found them to be good communicators.
