"Great care for Dupuytren's Contracture"

I had the first operation to my hand approximately 20 years ago. It gave me full mobility in my right hand and was carried out at Harlow Wood hospital near Mansfield. My GP recently noticed that those same two fingers had deformed and were worse than before I had the original operation. He referred me to Queens at Nottingham to a Professor Davies, who it turned out had been present at my first operation, I went in as a day patient on the 4th of March had a local anaesthetic. It is now completely healed, though I still sleep with a splint to hold it extended.

I was impressed with the hygiene required, being provided with a bottle of Stellisept to shower with for two days before and three days after the operation. Swabs were taken for analysis was a reassuring action. I think that the health service is playing its part in countering infections. I would think that the problem lies with a population, a small part of which seem to have no concept of personal hygiene, and are so undisciplined as to be inured to the information or appeals made to them.

I doubt if this is helpful, except to allow you to know that for all the squealing by the media, some of us value our health service, and realise that with a population as diverse as ours, we can't legislate problems away without going down the path of a Police State.
