"Concerns about my wife's treatment"

About: Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as a carer),

During the last 18 months, my wife has been under the care of the North Tyneside CMHT. During this time, I felt that she has been misdiagnosed, mistreated, ignored and been largely left to flounder.

In the last 4 weeks alone she has been sectioned, arrested, respite care and hospitalised, and still nothing. She has stopped her antidepressant as her psychiatrist failed to produce the reducing prescription. Her psychologist went on holiday and then on return got the date wrong, so 3 weeks and no support.

Currently she has not slept for nearly one week, has not eaten for nearly 5 days and still nothing is being done.

A senior staff member from CMHT North Tyneside came to my wife's discharge from the section, which served only to provoke her. This was witnessed by an employee from the hospital, who was in disbelief at what they saw.

My children have had to move out as the situation is so bad, and still nothing. The support for my wife has been almost non-existent and support for her family and carer (me) is worse than non-existent. In all honesty, I feel that you are better off talking to a vet than these people. We have found their care incompetent and negligent, at best.
