"Close this place down"

My aether dislocated his shoulder so we went to Abingdon hospital. The treatment my partner recieved was shocking! He was in my opinion treated by nurses who didn't have a clue about what they were dealing with. They told us the X-ray department was closed - at 9pm why surely if this is a minor injuries this should have the same hours. They still decided they would try to pull around at my partners arm not even knowing which way to twist it. After much pulling and going to and from a computer to read information on his injury I stepped in and stopped them, fearing their lack of knowledge would cause further damage. I demanded some pain relief before we left which I feel should have been offered already. We then went to the john Radcliffe where the treatment we recieved was far superior and I couldn't fault them here. It's too early to tell if the nurses actions have caused further damage to my partner but I'm sure it didn't improve his condition. Everyone I have spoken to about this unit has had negative things to say - I honestly believe this place should be closed down and the money raise selling this site off could be used to further improve the already excellent service and facilities at the JR and also be spent on patient transport. Please have second thoughts before going here!!!

I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with the services you have received from Oxford Health NHS FT when you and your partner attended the Abingdon Minor Injuries Unit recently. I would like to make you aware that I have brought this matter to the attention of this team who are very keen to look into the issues that you have raised. However in order that we can begin this we would need some additional details and with this in mind I wonder if you would be so kind as to contact us at the Patient Advice and Liaison Service. We take all feedback about our services seriously and I would be grateful if you could contact us at PALS@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk or alternatively you can contact 0800 328 7971 in order that we can work with you to ensure that we learn from your experience to improve the service provided.
