"Aspirant pnuemonia - Felsted ward"

After being taken to accident and emergency after choking in residential care a 90 year old patient was admitted to Felsted ward. All the nursing staff and support staff were caring and attentive. There was an incorrect assumption made because of a foriegn sounding surname that English wasn't understood by the patient. This was not correct as the patient lived and worked in the UK for 60 years. This meant that physiotherapy was not received. Discharge of the patient was not discussed with the patient's carer. Staffing levels of nursing staff seemed far too low with nurses rushing about with too many patients to attend to. Also, there seemed to be very few experienced nurses. I think this affected patients dignity and caused unecessary risks to patient care. Much better that what can only be called a terrifying expience at Bucks NHS Trust Wycombe hospital in October and December 2010.
