I was involved in a very nasty cycling accident in the recent Exmoor Beast sportive event, which involved me being pitched off of my bike at 40mph through a glass window causing severe lacerations to my left hand. From arriving at a&e right the way through to the surgery itself I was treated with the utmost dignity and respect, it was great that while I was being worked on in theatre I was able to have a good natter with the theatre staff who are fellow cyclists as well ;) I asked for a nerve block which they were more than willing to accommodate, and let me get home that much quicker. Special mentions should go to the staff on Jowery ward who were just lovely and very tolerant of my sense of humour, another on Hestercombe who helped me with showering and getting dressed when I was struggling, and the surgeon and staff in the operating theatre who distracted me perfectly from what was going on with my hand, which the surgeon has done a fantastic job on. Thank you so, so much for saving my fingers, putting up with my dry sense of humour and for making me feel so much better. Thank heavens for the NHS.
"Thank you so much"
