"Excellent care"

About: Conquest Hospital

My father spent an unexpected ten days at the Conquest recently. I was impressed with the attention given by the nursing and medical staff and cannot fault his care. The food was excellent. My only issue is with the weekend visiting hours. I understand why it is restricted to to afternoons during the week as there are ward rounds and all sorts of other things going on in the mornings. At weekends, however, it is very quiet and visitors would not be in the way at all. As I was visiting from some distance it meant I could only visit for a couple of hours as I had to leave in time to get back home again. Could visiting hours be extended at weekeends if appropriate for the ward?

Thank you for taking the time to provide comments about you and your fathers experience of the Orthopaedic ward at the Conquest Hospital. We're pleased that you 'cannot fault his care' and that your father found the food 'excellent'. As a Trust we are committed to giving the highest quality of care to our patients, and we value all comments from patients and their families. You raise a very valid question about visiting hours at weekends and quite rightly point out there are reasons why visiting hours are restricted. However, usually staff on the wards will make occasional exceptions particularly if relatives are visiting from a distance away. We will ensure your feedback (and question) is forwarded to the ward matron for consideration. With best wishes
