I was admitted to A&E: the care was good, but extremely long-drawn-out. It took 9 hours (1700 to 0200 next morning) for me to be assessed as having possible broken foot & hand and moved to a ward. The emergency staff were busy, but not that busy: it seemed that once I was assessed as not having life-threatening injuries, I was just quietly forgotten. Treatment on the ward was fine, but once assessed as ready for discharge it took over 6 hours for the discharge letter to be written & for me to be let out. That is not an isolated incident: last time I was in Colchester General, it took 11 hours for the discharge letter to be written. Bring a book. Or several.
"Good care, badly let down by administrative..."
