My mum aged 74 collapsed and was taken to Wexham park despite being under treatment in the past at High Wycombe for cardiac problems. Having diagnosed a suspected heart attack, they put her in a medicine for the older person ward instead of transferring her to High Wycombe which has a specialist cardiac unit. My mother is sensible, can work her mobile and ipad and enjoys the company of others so the ward full of people with dementia was totally inappropriate. She was distressed by the care or lack of it given to patients who clearly needed more supervision as two of the patients in her bay fell out of bed. On one of these occasions the staff were laughing. The food was inedible, the heating and hot water was broken for two days. They took 3 days to give her an echocardiogram and she was supposed to have a 24hour tape monitor but it never happened. She was told she had to wait to have a angiogram but she refused because by then she had diarrhoea from the poor food and change in tablets...they didn't even move her to a side room when she exhibited diarrhoeal symptoms - poor infection control protocol, poor food, poor care in general. She will not be going there again!
"poor all round"
