"I went to the A&E beacuse ..."

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I went to the A&E beacuse I have an acute pain in my knee and left the A&E at 1.30am, to return again with the same pain the day after.

I was diagnosed with a 'Sprain' by my GP several weeks ago, however I was crossing the street and my knee gave in, which made me fall on the floor, so I went to the A&E again today, only to be told to take stronger pain killers - i have been on diclofenac by my GP advice. The A&E refused to do CT scan on both occasions. I am sure there is a torn somewhere on my knew that I haven't been treated for yet. No one told me why am I in pain for 7 weeks now. I am in pain again tonite, and it is 3.30 am, this is the 5th night in a row that I can't sleep due to the fact that my pain feels there is someone 'poking' my knee with a nife - by the way, this is another typical symptom of a tear. And the fact the my knee poped and then I fell on the floor, not to move fro 30 mins.

What could be improved

The NHS and this hospital staff, should have done a CT scan on me, to avoid more sleepless nights as I am having to wait until I see my GP to get (maybe?) a referral to be treated and diagnosed properly. This is ridiculous, as I was only adviced to take opiates of the 'morphine' family. The A&E at this hospital was certainly very keen to treat the vast amount of drunks and drug users in Brighton, that were throwing up and bleeding all over the place, but not me, a decent person that is in acute pain and falling down the road as I was crossing to eat lunch, I could have been hit by a car with my knee giving in this way.

Anything else?

As I left on Saturday, I have asked the doc for copy of my papers, he told me to wait, only to come back later saying I couldn't have it, and they would send it to my GP. How weird is that???? Why can't I have a copy ????? The receptionist on my way in said I could have it after the nurse was done with it.

I want to be contacted about this issue by the hospital. And I would like copies of my paperwork,ASAP it is my right and is clearly stated on your website.
