"Brilliant care after a pavement fall"

About: Honiton Hospital / Minor injury unit

(as the patient),

I tripped on the edge of a pavement receiving a badly cut and bruised eye and cracked ribs plus bruising to my arm. We weren't attended by an ambulance. I had the fall going to the London Irish v. Exeter Chiefs game on the Saturday (and yes... add insult to injury Irish lost... heavily!!!) and except for a cut and bruised eye felt fine enough to continue with our day. However by Sunday afternoon I was in a lot of discomfort from my chest/rib injury so we called into the Honiton Hospital.

After giving details to a very kind receptionist, we were very quickly seen by Ms.Gail Munn who was one of the duty Nurse Practioners'. She was so good. After a very thorough examination of head, neck, chest and arm she took us through the injuries and why they were looking or feeling as they were. She then told us how the injury would develop, so as to reassure us and alleviate any future worries. Brilliant.

Dear Patient

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of your recent attendance at Honiton MIU with us. I was really pleased to learn you were treated so well and have shared your very positive comments with the service Manager where they will be shared with the staff member concerned, and also very warmly received.

I hope you are now fully recovered and fit enough to visit the chiefs again in the near future!

Kind regards

Jayne
