"6 and half hours in A & E and 3 x rays"

Where do I start? On Thurs 9th October I received a call at 9.45am from my sons secondary school to say he had dislocated his left thumb playing basketball in p.e. The paramedic was there when I got to the school at 10.00am my son had a sling on and it was obvious he was in a lot of pain and very upset. The paramedic said I would have to follow him up to Russells Hall A & E and to book my son in when I got there at main desk. I was told to go through to A & E dept and was advised that due to my son (12) being in pain they would give him a nasal pain relief and needed to xray which seemed to happen quite quickly at first. After about ten mins in a cubicle a nurse came to us and said it had been decided to just give him ibuproven and children's pain relief both liquid form as if he was given proper pain relief as originally planned it would make him a bit unsteady and would take him longer to walk round the corner to xray dept (was this a cost cutting decision?) My son had his first xray after waiting in line and then we were told to go back to same cubicle as we came out of only to find that another patient was in there so told to wait and then we were moved to kids A and E cubicle where the waiting game started. After two hours a doctor appeared and even after I told the doctor it had been more than two hours since my son had been given his pain relief and probably wore off. The doctor decided to try and put dislocation back in place even though this caused my son to be in extreme agony, and the doctor said that there seemed to be something stopping the joints going back correctly and would get another bone specialist to look at it (we have been advised by another specialist since that with a dislocation it should be looked at asap after it's happened to try and correct it and by leaving it over two hours it would have caused more problems, should other docs not be aware of this? To cut a very long story short after being there 6 and half hours and three xrays and three different docs and half way through being told we would have to leave the cubicle to wait in childrens play room to make room for another patient who by the way was examined, diagnosed and left after an hour and half maximum the problem was still not resolved is not acceptable and I will be taking it further as after seeing a specialist since at Bhams Kids Hospital and a two hour operation there yesterday it was found that there was tendon and a small break that had to be repaired also that wasnt picked up in the three xrays at RH. I do feel neglect and waiting two hours before even the first doctor appeared has to be looked into as if one doctor knows that a dislocation has to be dealt with asap why wasnt first two docs aware of this? The third Consultant gave proper pain relief and refered us to the Specialist at Bham Kids for the next day so a proper diagnosis/plan of repair could be sorted out but just a pity it took over 6 hours and 3 visits to Bham over the last week to get resolve.
