"Disgraceful experience"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

I was referred by my GP for a suspected uti/ovarian cyst. On arrival at the gynaecology assessment unit there was no warm welcome in fact I was made to feel like an inconvenience. I arrived at 11am have various tests and procedures. By 3pm I was placed on a side ward the staff told me that I would have to stay in for 24 hours on an antibiotic drip. However they couldn't find a bed for me as I needed to be treated for a uti and the ovarian cyst would be treated as an outpatient. I had no fluid or pain relief all I was told is that there was no one would provide a bed. Eventually by 5pm I was provided some uv fluid and paracetamol . Another doctor came to see me he was angry that I hadn't been given any of the iv antibiotics I needed or enough fluid as I was very dehydrated. I finally received the first course of iv antibiotics by 6pm. The doctor told me I would be going home that evening but the nurses contradicted the doctors and no one would tell me what was going on. I was transferred to ward f7 a respiratory ward for a uti infection? The Staff on this ward was extremely rude it took an hour for a nurse to come over to me luckily the doctor who had been treating me arrived and was very angry that I hadn't been given the second dose of antibiotics and discharged. finally by 9.30pm I had been given the second iv antibiotics and discharged. I was told to take oral antibiotics given a dose to take home and told my prescription would be ready for collection on Thursday. I phoned several times only to be told it hadn't come back from the pharmacy. When I phoned on Friday morning I spoke to the ward clerk who could only apologies and said she'd chase the pharmacy and I'm still waiting for my antibiotics! This hospital is an absolute farce
