On the evening of Saturday 11th Oct I collapsed after suffering a bad migraine earlier in the day. My wife made me comfortable and noticed my face seemed to be drooping on one side. I was also having trouble with my speech. She called for an ambulance and within a couple of minutes the first respose team (a husband & wife who live locally) were with me shortly followed by the ambulance crew. I was thoroughly tested for stroke symptoms and each procedure was explained as they went.
A stroke was ruled out but was advised that a trip to hospital was for the best.
Both teams were lovely and made me feel comfortable despite the pain I was in.
Upon arrival at East Surrey Hospital I was assesed very quickly and taken onto the emergency ward and into a cubicle for blood tests. Followed by a CT scan and numerous visits from ward staff and 2 different doctors.
Every step was explained clearly and I was made as comfortable as possible.
"Suspected stroke."
