"Exasperation from lack of treatment......."

About: Conquest Hospital

I went to The dermatology department in July 2014 suffering from a severe skin condition. The consultant inspected my skin and explain that this is probably only second time they had seen a condition this bad in 20 years. The consultant said I would be sent off for a biopsy and have photographs of the condition. Asking the consultant when I would be having a biopsy, I was told the consultant would see if he could get me in that morning, however there was no space available so they said I will probably be seen the following Thursday. After a month of waiting for an appointment I went back and saw my GP who wrote to the consultant asking when I was going to be seen in clinic to have the biopsy taken. My GP requested that I saw him again in two weeks and we could discuss how the consultant was going to proceed with treatment. I went back to see my GP two weeks later and still there was no letter from the consultant so my GP wrote again insisting that the consultant replied to his letters asking of when the consultant was going to see me in clinic. I then received an appointment at the beginning of October where the consultant said in his letter that there had been a misunderstanding of why I hadn't been seen sooner and the consultant would apologise to me when I was seen in clinic but stated in his letter I failed to keep the last appointment! Unfortunately I was unable to keep the appointment as I was quite sick. This is a usual occurrence as I have a spinal cord injury and have paraplegia. My carer phoned and explained this and the appointment was rescheduled for two weeks later. This appointment was cancelled by the Conquest Hospital as was the next appointment for November by the Hospital and I've now been given one for the beginning of December. If I do get seen in December for a biopsy then I will still be waiting for the consultant to reply back of his findings and wait for a further appointment to actually see the consultant in his clinic. My initial concern was getting pressure sores on my backside from this skin condition, I highlighted this to the consultant and asked if they could start treatment immediately. The consultant wouldn't offer me any kind of treatment and said let's wait for the results of the biopsy. I think the consultant underestimates the severity of this condition and my disabilities. Waiting five months for an appointment to have a biopsy when I'm paraplegic in my mind is totally unacceptable. Since seeing the consultant my condition has got worse and has spread now to further parts of my body. I feel that I have been unfairly treated by this consultant and the Conquest Hospital. I'm left feeling totally humiliated from having photographs taken of private areas of my body by a non-medical practitioner which I'm left feeling rather traumatised allowing this to happen being a venerable adult.
