"Emergency Addmission - Perforated Bowel"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

I was admitted for diagnosis and emergency Surgery on a Sundy. I had a perforated bowel and woke up after the operatioin with a Stoma, The Stoma was reversed 4 month later. On each visit I was an inpatient for circa 1 week. I consider that the treatment I received was first class from all grades of staff from Consultant down to cleaners and porters. I would only question the fact that the night shift appeared to be augmentend by Agency Nurses / Care Assistants. While the standard of care provided was no less than that provided by the permanent staff I, feel that Agency personnel do not add anything to the service other than additional cost. I was pleased with my treatment and would like to thank the Consultants, doctors, nurses (especially the Staff Nurse and the Stoma Nurse) and all the ancilliary staff who have contributed to my full recovery.
