"I was a patient in the day surgery ..."

About: Castle Hill Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was a patient in the day surgery unit. The facilities were exceptional, as where all the staff,I was looked after very well and had peace of mind knowing I was been looked after in a state of the art unit.

What could be improved

While sitting in the reception area, I noticed that staff making deliveries into the unit did not use the hand cleaning gell, medical staff coming from outside did not use the the gell and just walked straight through into the unit. The reception staff did not tell people to use the gell when they presented themselves at the reception.

Anything else?

The facilities and staff are fantastic, so why is something as basic as using hand gell ignored

Dear Kev Thank you for placing your experiences at the day surgery unit on the website. It is always nice to receive positive comments from patients, so that we can ensure good practice is shared. We have passed your comments on to our colleagues at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust will investigate the concerns you have raised regarding the lack of use of the hand gels on the unit as they take infection control matters extremely seriously. They would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you and their Patient Advice & Liaison Service can be reached on 01482 623065 or by email. NHS Hull is the organisation responsible for deciding how money is spent on local health services [also known as commissioning], ensuring those services are of high quality and meet local needs. We value all feedback and if you would like to discuss this or any other matter please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service on 01482 335409 or by email. Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your views on local services.
