I had the misfortune to become dreadfully ill with a nasty gastric bug hours before I was due to fly on holiday .I was at a hotel in Gatwick ,overnight ,for a 6 a.m flight . Bags were already checked in . I became severely ill ,never known anything like it before and everything was leaving me ,both up and down ,out of control !! I could barely make it back to the car to head off for help . My husband drove me to Woking Walk in Center ,where they quickly assessed me as being badly dehydrated and told me to get to St Peter s A&E . They sent my details over and I was tended to straight away upon my arrival .2 bags of fluids ,several injections and all the usual checks were handled by lovely staff ,who really sympathised with our predicament . The doctor promised he would get me well enough to travel on Thursday . I was able to ! :))) The holiday was desperately needed after nursing my Dad to the end of his life with prostate cancer for most of the year . My husband had also just been diagnosed with the same dreadful disease. So this really was the NHS at its best ! A huge thankyou to all those kind ,caring ,skilled people ,who helped us to achieve our holiday to a wonderful remote area of Mykonos, where we were able to unwind for a few days .
"Emergency help at its best !"
