"non application of care plan"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I am a frequent attender of the emergency dept. and on the 9th oct 2014 had to go in again with acute abdominal pain and nausea. has soon as I got into the assessment bay area along with the paramedic that took me in, the receptionist that was floating around the area, came to look at the queue and saw me and said oh my god not him again and I knew I was in for a rough time. after being assessed I went into the majors center area, where I waited for some anti emetics and fluids, this took ages and my pain flared up again, the meds finally came and I told the nurse seeing to me that my pain had got worse, she went off and I waited yet again for what seemed ages, then a doctor came to see me, so I told him I was in agony again but he gave me the third degree as if I was lying. this is when I asked him if he had read my care plan but he just mumbled on as if to avoid the question. he then disappeared and after a while came back with another doctor who proceeded to tell me that I was alright to go home, I queried this has I was still in pain, so he told me that he would give me 10mls of morphine but in 2x5ml doses with half an hour between each dose and if the pain had gone at any of this procedure that he would send me home, he only agreed to this because I told him that this was the usual procedure. after receiving the first dose I was completely out of pain but without telling or asking me I was moved to the edu dept. where I sat without any symptoms until I begged a young doctor to come and see me. she could not understand why I had been moved to edu instead of being sent. she finally discharged me after seeing how much stress this had put me under. I have complained several times of being treated has if was a time waster and assured several times that this wouldn't happen but yet again the LRI have treated worse than a wounded dog, this shouldn't happen if only the care plan and my views on the situation were looked at and followed as far as the doctors could. I had gone into the emergency dept. a week before and was in and out with the same amount of pain relief and procedures within 2 and half hours and came out without feeling alone and worthless as if I was guilty for be ill, so why did this time differ from last considering there is a care plan in place for me explaining every procedure for every nurse and doctor working in the emergency dept. surely common sense comes into treating patients

Dear Tim, Firstly may we offer our apologies in the delay in getting back to you, we passed your comments onto the Emergency Department team who took some time to look at your notes. We treat each patient as an individual and are disappointed to hear you did not feel valued and well cared for by our team when you were with us on 9 October. Upon review, it appears the team did follow your care plan appropriately, however, we feel this may not have been well communicated and appreciate how this was an upsetting experience for you. We would like the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail so we can learn from your experience, so therefore ask that you please contact communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk, to arrange a phone call or face-to-face meeting with the head of the emergency department. Best wishes Communications Team Leicester’s Hospitals
