"Rhumatology appointment"

About: Torbay Hospital

My Appointment on the 8th of October 2014 was with a follow up visit as I have been in a lot of pain and still am at this present time,After going through two xrays on my knees and hip joint to be told its osteoarthritis. Today I returened to see the consultant in a joint clinic for dermatology and rhumatology the consultant just entered the room and did not make his presence known to me at the time just expecting me to remember him from my last visit to which he was very rude to me and said in my face that if I lost some weight it would help me as he assumed that since I put on weight that I ate to much.I was upset with him as he knows nothing about me and never asked about my life style and yes I do agree that I have put a lot of weight on but that is because that im constantly in pain and cant walk as often as I would like to.On the other hand the Dermatology Doctor came in to great me with his name and a wellcome handshake not only to me but with my husband who accompanied me on the visit.I was told by the consultant that if my pain got worse (stopping me from sleeping etc) im to go back to see my doctor Im still left in great pain and can only walk for very short distance and got the pain all the time I have waited for several weeks to see a rhumatologist only to be told this and feel im just back to square one at this moment in time.I think that he should brush up with his attitude to patients as I was more polite to him but felt he was rude to me and just wanted me to go and put up with my pain.Im a person who never bothers my doctor unless its some thing beyond my control and feel very let down to be sent away with just carry on taking the pain relief.Im not looking for an opperation just some relief from the pain and a friendly doctor would not have gone amiss.I got the impression that he thought that I was wasting his time.I also had to remind him about my blood test that he had previously ordered to see the results he went away to check them only to come back and say yes its osteoartriris and go back to see my own doctor. On the other hand because I said it was a joint clinic with dermatology I was treated with utter respect and would not falter the high respect that I felt with the dermatology doctor who consulted with me.
