"My experience at the Sandbourne Suite"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

23.09.14 was seen in the Orthopaedic. The consultant and staff were really helpful and friendly. I was phoned two days later with a date for my surgery 4th October the Sandbourne Suite. I was extremely nervous on the day of my surgery and was was welcomed by a friendly receptionist. I was soon called in to room 6 and greeted by a Deputy Sister who was so kind and encouraging who allowed my daughter-in-law to stay with me. I was the first on the list and soon met my consultant who explained everything and i signed the consent form he was so kind and friendly and i felt very relaxed. I then saw the anaesthetist who was very encouraging and as I was so nervous. I was then walked down to the anaesthetic room where the anaesthetist and assistant talked to me next thing i knew i was in recovery where I was looked after until i was ready to be taken back to the ward where the deputy sister cared for me until I went home. I would like to thank everyone who looked after me before during and after my operation at the Sandbourne Suite. The Sandbourne Suite is a very relaxed place and you dont feel you are in a hospital it is a really nice place and the care there is excellant

Dear Sandra Smith Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I feel it is always important to receive positive feedback from patients who are anxious about their treatment as I believe it helps other anxious patients when they need similar treatment. I am very pleased that that our staff took the time to explain everything to you, putting you at ease and allowing your daughter-in-law to stay with you while you got settled. Understanding how anxious some patients are about coming to hospital we do try to make our patient areas as warm and welcoming as possible and I am pleased that you found the Sandbourne Suite to be so relaxed. I will pass on your kind comments to the teams you mentioned and I am sure that they, like me, wish you well for the future and a speedy recovery. Regards Sue Mellor Head of Patient Engagement
