"Finally Some-one Took me Seriously!!!!!"

About: Campus for Ageing and Vitality Cumbria Teaching PCT

(as the patient),

I had hurt my back and was unable to work for nearly two months. I had gone to my GP and complained with the pain, i was told it was only a back pain and it would go away. Except it never did and the pain became uncontrollable. I lost the movement of my left foot completely and lost the sensation in my left leg. The GP's made me feel stupid and that i was just being paranoid.

Fortunately i had friends, who were also concerned and requested that i attend an MRI. I had an MRI and the next day the GP's contacted me and informed me of the seriousness of my condition.

Eventually the GP contacted the neurosurgery in Newcastle General Hospital, within two hours of the hospital receiving my MRI results. They contacted and admitted me on the same day. The 2nd day of admission, i received emergency surgery to my spine. The staff at Newcastle General were really kind, helpful and caring. They did their best to help with my immobility and pain control. They showed me the compasion and understanding that i never received from the GP's.

I really appreciate Newcastle General for their quickness and effectiveness of the treatment i received. Thank You!!!
