"Sent away from booked appointment as it is a..."

About: Manor Hospital

My daughter attended her first appointment for Orthodontic treatment to be sent away as it is a Monday and they still have not received Dental notes. When we arrived the receptionist explained they will need to contact the dentist to fax over her dental notes, once these have been received she can continue with her appointment and to take a seat. 30 minutes later the receptionist further explained my daughter could not been seen anyway as it is a Monday and they will post new appointment. Why didn't they mention this when I booked in or contacted me to rearrange? Is it normal to chase dental notes on the day of your appointment? Is it normal to send appointments out on Mondays knowing you can't be seen anyway? Lack of communication is appalling - surely they should have contacted me to explain why she couldn't been seen before paying for car park charges, daughter missing two hours of school and myself rearranging my work hours.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. I’m sorry to read about the confusion with regard to your daughter’s care, unfortunately an error was made at the time of booking and for this I sincerely apologise. I can understand your frustration with regard to parking and also missing time at work and school. I understand that you’re already in touch with our Patient Relations team, hopefully they have been able to you speak to a clinician regarding your daughter’s care. If you would like to speak to us about anything else, or raise any further concern, don’t hesitate to get in touch - 01922 656463.
