"Compassion on Ward 27"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

My husband is being treated on Ward 27 and I am concerned about the attitude of some of the nurses on that ward. Some of them are wonderful and very caring and some are very cold and abrupt which is the last thing one wants when one is so poorly. My husband was on the medical assessment ward for a few hours initially and the staff there were wonderful=everyone of them but on Ward 27 I get the impression that because one is elderly and a bit grumpy maybe that they think they are senile which is what my husband certainly isn't. I know the staff are busy but sometimes they take ages to answer not only my husband's call but other patients on the ward When one is so poorly one needs compassion and friendly smiles. I am also concerned that when I ask what is happening with my husband no one seems to be very forthcoming . I wish to remain anonymous as I don't want any repercussions visited on my husband. It is very stressful for my husband when he feels so poorly to think that maybe they are just waiting for him to "pop off" as he said. Please ask the staff to be more compassionate in their approach to patients
