"My father's care "

About: Lincoln County Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My admiration for the Staff who have treated my 84 year father cannot be expressed enough.

He was admitted to A and E and the doctor diagnosed breathing problems which needed life saving surgery that day. The Op. was carried out at 6pm that evening, any longer and my dad would have died.

A day later he suffered a heart attack, and started to bleed badly. The nurses were excellent trying to stop the bleeding. The surgeons/doctors came up with the plan for life saving surgery again to stem the blood loss. We were kept informed all the way about the risks and that Dad might not make it through the op.

2 and half hours later when the op was over, we were waiting in the corridor, as he was pushed along the corridor to the Intensive. Care Unit, around his bed were 3 surgeons, and numerous other staff. We were overwhelmed at the care they had given my dad. I broke down in tears when I saw them all pushing his bed to ICU.

He is in there now and the care he is receiving is fantastic. Myself and family cannot thank all the Staff at Lincoln County for bringing our Dad back. You hear of stories about hospitals not wanting to help old people. My dad is 84 years old and they never gave up on him. They gave him a chance.

Thankyou to all the surgeons, the staff at Clayton ward, and all the doctors. Now we have to pray that he can get through this. My sister shook the surgeons hand when she saw him walking along the corridor later after the op. I wanted to hug him. Thank you so much Lincoln County staff xx

Dear WendyB

On behalf of the staff on Clayton ward, I would like to thank you, most sincerely, for taking the time to let us know of your family’s appreciation of the care your father has and is currently receiving. I have already discussed this with Junior Sister who will let the team know of your kind words. I hope your father continues to make a good recovery.
