"I was informed that pain management was about accepting the pain and moving on"

About: Pain Management Solutions Limited Shropshire and Staffordshire

(as the patient),

Referred by my doctor for Pain Management. Was then sent to a private firm working for the NHS called Pain Management Solutions. On my first visit all my details were taken and I was offered several options which included acupuncture (this I had tried, which had no benefit). Eventually I was put on the waiting list for spinal steroid injection, (this had worked for me in the past). I waited for a couple of months, then received another appointment for a one to one with pain management. When I got there, I was surprised to find another person in the room, whom I was not introduced to. This person was taking notes whilst we talked.

In a nutshell I was informed that pain management was about accepting the pain and moving on. I was offered group meetings to discuss pain management with a group of people. This I declined as as far as I'm concerned talking never cured pain and I felt like this is more like AA than pain relief. In fact it's nothing like pain relief. In my opinion this is a complete waste of my time and the NHS money.

I have been in pain for 20 years, now it's getting worse due to arthritis in spine and feet. To be told to accept it and move on is an insult to not only me but to the good doctors who have been fighting my pain by medical and surgical methods.

Update posted by Hyten (the patient)

I have now finished my Pain Management treatment. No change in pain, still trying to get referred to the correct treatment, what a waste of money, stop delaying the envitable, and send patients (which is what we are) to the correct department.
