"Fairly extensive spinal surgery"
Posted by J*****.
The treatment on admission prior to surgery was satisfactory but the officious way my own tablets ( which I was asked to bring in ) were demanded and taken was a bit upsetting when I was nervous anyway.the operation went well and the post op care was superb, however, the pain control subsequently was patchy and not as boarded.I was weeping with pain at time Everything went well from there on,the food was good and my room mate was a delightful lady. The main and most upsetting experience came at the end of my stay.I was told I had to go because the Winfield was not being payed a penny for my bed.( I presume the NHS had a set fee for my op.)and I had exceeded the allotted time. The nurse who told us I had to go was very rude to us both. Our university granddaughter was there at the time and was horrified. The physio.girls were not prepared to sign me off so the Winfield discharged me to an old people,s home , with no nursing care ! Luckily ,Glos Royal NHS Trust had a bed and I transferred to there. I would advise caution if you are offered the Winfield as an NHS patient !
