I am just about to complete my cardiac rehabilitation programme following a heart attack in June 2014..
During the cardiac rehabilitation I have felt supported and cared for. From dealing with the initial contact and my upcoming end of the support I have been treated courteously, without prejudice or judgment and given informative advice throughout by a team who obviously care passionately about the service and the patients who use it.
As an ex-NHS employee it simply reminds me just what the NHS is capable of providing when it is given appropriate resources, and importantly considers the needs of local patients. I'm not sure that I would have been able or been willing to travel to Telford or Stoke for this. That I have been encouraged and supported in making lifestyle changes has played an immense part in achieving more than I thought possible - weight loss, the all important reduced circumference and increased exercise, coupled with dietary advice and stress management.
Without this local support I know that I would not have been so successful. It's not possible to pick out a "best member of staff", indeed it's been joint working that has been the star and providing reassurance when needed.
Would I want a member of my family treated as I have been - absolutely!
