I think there should be plenty of activities on the ward which people enjoy and will keep you occupied. Please speak to the ward staff about things you would like to do. The OT staff will help you plan activities. Also talk about activities in the community meeting. Maybe you have some good ideas that all the patients would enjoy.

I am sorry but there will not be a pool table on the ward at the moment because the last one was broken.

It is good to hear that you feel supported by staff. If you do have a problem with a member of staff please talk to a Team Leader or the Ward Manager and they will be able to help you.

I have spoken to the Ward Manager as well to get her view. I hope you find it helpful. This is what she says:

Thank you for posting your comments, it helps the ward community to continue to develop and build on what is good and what we need to improve.

To answer you’re posting:

(1) I asked today in Lister Community meeting if patients were happy with the structured day time table all agreed that they were, I asked if any one felt bored, patients said they had plenty to do if they wanted to and most said they had full days and could not fit any thing extra into it.

To further support your comment I intend to look at the time table with the PAN and ask for patients to suggest new activities we could do, to replace the ones already planned, I hope that you will be able to support this and put in activities that you would like to join in with.

(2) The pool table has been spoken about at previous Lister community meetings and agreed by the majority of patients, who felt that the misuse of the pool table in the past was a concern for patients and staff safety, that we would replace the pool table and the patients agreed to have an ice hockey table instead, patients are supported to attend community snooker halls.

(3)Thank you for posting that some staff are really excellent, the feelings you have that some staff are only here for the money, it is difficult sometimes if we do not have good engagement with staff and it can feel personal that some are not doing enough, it may be that you feel that they are not doing enough with you but are they busy doing other things?

Sometimes staff have other jobs to do that we do not know about, some staff are new to the ward and may not be confidant at first to do lots of things.

I have asked at today’s community meeting if patients are happy with staff and they all agreed that they were, also all patients felt that some staff were all doing enough.

If you feel you need more support from me with this comment please ask to discuss this with me privately, I will then be able to support you further with any concerns you may have.
