I received excellent service from Bradford hospital last week. I came in to A and E and was then admitted to Ward 27 on Thursday 25th September. I was very anxious and upset about what had happened and about being so far from home (Southampton). All of the hospital staff I encountered treated me with the utmost kindness and helpfulness. I was also dealt with quickly and efficiently - my stay in A and E was less than 1 1/2 hours (though I realise I managed to have my accident at a quiet time of day!!) The nurse in A and E was really helpful and explained the situation clearly to me as well as lightening the atmosphere for me!! The radiographer whom I saw twice was really kind when she saw I was upset. The porters were all so friendly and cheerful. All the nurses and Health Care Assistants on Ward 27 were caring and professional; they always seemed to have time for me and the other patients, and they had an abundance of patience. Everything was explained clearly - the communication was excellent. Finally the anaesthetists and the surgeon were kind and caring as well as professional and made it clear about what was happening. Obviously, I would rather not have been in hospital at all, but I cannot imagine a better experience under the circumstances. (And the food was good too - when I was allowed to eat it!!) A traumatic situation was made bearable and comfortable for me.
"A brilliant experience in a traumatic situation!"
