I have just returned from my first visit to this hospital and I left feeling rather depressed about the state of the NHS. We spent half an hour trying to find a parking space with no one to ask where we should or could park and the signs were all confusing. After we found a random space we had no idea where we were. No maps were evident. We wandered around and just entered one of many faceless doors into a faceless corridor where we were helped by a kind patient who directed us to the clinic. Thankfully we were mobile and not suffering from any pain otherwise I think that we would have collapsed on route to the clinic.
When we entered the waiting room, we were greeted by a sweaty room full of people and staff shouting out names every now and again. An ineffective mobile air conditioning unit made it difficult to hear names being called out or rather shouted out... All except one nurse shouted first names and surname without making eye contact and without any social niceties. I wonder what the elderly woman next to me thought of hearing her first name barked out in front of everyone. Does no one care about being treated with respect because I do. I felt sorry for the staff because they seemed so demoralised....
After waiting an hour after the appointment time, we were seen by a doctor who gave good advice and we are grateful, thank you.
We just felt rather sad about our experience.
