I had an abdominal hysterectomy on Monday and I have been home since weds. I was really worried about the op but all aspects of my care were absolutely fine. The ward is completely spotless. The staff are very friendly and helpful and all introduced themselves as they came on shift including the tea ladies and cleaners. The doctors were seen regularly. The only thing was I would like to have known a bit more about what they saw when they cut me, but that's just my morbid curiosity and no doubt it will be in the GP letter. I was going to have keyhole but fibroid was too big. I was worried about the scar but it just looks like they drew a thin red brio line on me, practically nothing. There was a keyhole cut for camera to go in and that has gone. Pain control was excellent with morphine pump and plenty to go home with. I have had no pain worse than light period pain. I hope others get on as well. There is a real mix of ladies come into the ward. Some sad problems pregnancy related etc but the ones on my bay, four of us, were all in good spirits. I couldn't have had better care. Worst buzzer response time was about 30 seconds I reckon.
"Don't worry if you are going in here"
