"Restored my faith!"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I would just like to say thank you to the staff in emergency gynaecology and antenatal for their care over the past few weeks. I had previously had a bad experience at Wansbeck regarding a missed ectopic pregnancy that then ruptured ending in a week long stay in hospital and so didn't have a good feeling about going back there. When I got pregnant again I was referred for an early scan due to the previous ectopic, had blood tests taken and subsequent scans, and although we did see a baby with a heart beat on one scan, the outlook was never good and I finally lost the baby. Through all this the staff have been caring, sensitive and really looked after me. I'd like to single out a couple of ladies, one who I met down on antenatal who made me a hot sweet coffee after some news that left me a bit shaken, and especially an amazing lady who has kept me informed at every point, been totally honest with me without being blunt, and even called me back in one afternoon just because she was worried about me and didn't want to leave me the whole weekend (at this point it was suspected that I had another ectopic and I was understandably concerned). They all made this heartbreaking experience just a little more bearable and I can't thank them enough.

Dear Angela, I am so sorry. I imagine it is extremely difficult to experience an ectopic pregnancy even once, but to lose your baby for a second time is devastating. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I am so pleased that you received the compassion and support that you needed from our staff. It is very reassuring to know that part of this support involved receiving the right level of information to help you get through this very difficult time. When the team get to see how much their care has meant to you I know they will be extremely touched, particularly the two ladies you mention. It is a profound reminder of the things that matter. Our sympathies once again and if there is anything that we can do for you please do not hesitate to get in touch. Take good care of yourself, Annie
