"Delivery suite and ward 11."

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I attended Delivery suite after my waters broke, to get checked and to do a trace of baby. Everything was fine so I was sent home. I attended the next morning as the pain was becoming a little too intense for just paracetamol. I was checked and found to be two cms, but given some codine, paracetamol and a T.E.N.S machine, and sent back home. After trying unsuccessfully to get some sleep, i felt urges to push, thinking i just needed the loo, i managed 30 mins of this before I started to bleed. My partner rang delivery suite who advised and ambulance. After a short ride in an ambulance i arrived at delivery suite,at approximately 11:45 I was met by the same midwife who had checked me that morning. Everything from here on in is still a blur. I was told not to push as I was only 6 cms. I was encouraged to move around to listen to the babies heart, but as they were having difficulty they needed to attach a monitor to the babies head. I remember not wanting this, but being persuaded they needed to make sure baby was safe. I was then told, the head was there, and that I could start pushing. My little boy was born at 14:02, a lot of people rushed into my room, but I had my little boy on my chest and didn't really care, as long as they were not taking him away. My partner has since told me I had a bleed from my placenta, but they thought it was from somewhere else. I had an overnight stay on ward 11, and was discharged the next next day. The care I received was second to none, and my midwife was amazing, I doubt I could have had anyone better! I do apologize if I was mean/rude! I cannot thank the people involved in my care from the 999 operator right through to my discharge home enough, your really are doing an awesome job! Thanks again x

Dear Calvara, Many congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy. Thank you for this kind and considerate review of the care you received from the maternity team at Wansbeck Hospital. I am really pleased that the midwife who cared for you made such a difference to your experience and I know this will mean a great deal to the whole team. It is very reassuring and extremely touching to know just how much you appreciated the care that was given. I hope both you and your little boy are thriving at home and if there is anything more we can do for you, please get in touch. Best Wishes Annie
