"Stafford Hospital"

About: Stafford Hospital

(as a relative),

My husband was in SGH most of last summer.

He had obstructive jaundice caused by a pancreatic tumour, but during his stay, suffered renal failure and c. difficile, and on his 2nd admission, septicaemia, cardiac arrest and MRSA. He now attends for chemo.

Some of the treatment (in critical care & chemo) was excellent. Some was not.

One of my main concerns though, was the attitude of staff, one of whom did not appear to know how important hand washing is in the control of some superbugs, and one male nurse, who was unpleasant to my husband, when he requested help on & off of a commode, refusing to help on the grounds that he needed to learn to be independent, despite his critical medical problems. He saw the Bible by his bed and poured scorn on it, causind my husband great distress.

I cannot help think that had we belonged to a diffwerent faith group, he would have been far more respectful.

All this was reported, but internally investigated.
