"Good care for young daughter at John Radcliffe Oxford"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a relative),

My daughter was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea when she was 22 months. We were sent a referral to Oxford John Radcliffe and we went along to see the specialist.

The specialist was very kind and knowlegable, and told us that our daughter would need to have her tonsils out as they were causing the sleep apnoea. I was, at this point, 8 months pregnant with our second child so was very keen to get an appointment before baby was born! Although the specialist said it could take up to 6 weeks for an appointment, she put a note on our file and the following Friday we received a phone call with an appointment for the Monday.

We arrived at the hospital and our daughter was taken into surgery at midday, the surgery went very well, and she was back on the ward a couple of hours later (as she felt like having a nap after the anaestetic wore off!). The care we received was great, the nurses were lovely, there was a play area for the children which our daughter loved.

We were released the following day, there were no issues post-surgery and our daughter made a swift recovery.

We would highly recommend the paediatric ENT unit at the John Radcliffe, so much so that now our son has OSA we have made the John Radcliffe our first, and only, choice!
