"Poor care at Leicester General!"

About: Leicester General Hospital

(as the patient),

I was recently taken into hospital at Leicester general after seeing my doctor with abdominal pain. I was put straight on a ward, had a drip put in and was left in pain for 2 days before being moved wards, it took 3 days before I received a scan, all the while just being topped up on painkillers constantly.

The scan showed I had a polycystic ovary although this is not what I was told! I was visited by many different doctors and I was never visited by the same doctor more than once, with this I was not given correct advice and I was discharged after 7 days, even though nothing had been done treatment wise and I was still in agony. I was told the pain would go on its own and that I had a few cysts on my ovary.

I returned to my doctor 3 weeks later to be told that the cysts would never go on there own and he was shocked to hear I was discharged. I could have been left infertile! I did make a complaint and received a letter back saying the problem would be looked into, I have not heard anything since.

I was shocked at the I was treated at Leicester general. Some nurses on their mobile phones and talking about there home lives on the ward. Dirty underwear was left in the toilet for days, and faeces left rotting by the toilet!

All in all I moved wards 6 times in 7 days, was given incorrect information and treated badly. My advice is, NEVER be admitted to Leicester general!
