What I liked
Generally friendly staff when approached and dealt with my relative in a pleasant manner.
Doctor was helpful when asked questions.
Medical care was good.
What could be improved
The link between staff/ot/pt/social workers. Often didn't seem to be in the same loop! Different OT's said different things re what equipment would be sent home.
Always had to ask about relative's condition, not explained unless asked. I appreciate a busy ward (and probably understaffed) but shoud not assume family can't cope with info (or understand it!!). Patient got MRSA (spouse not told despite daily visits!!) and norovirus while in hospital which didn't seem to overly concern staff, perhaps routine? Main concern was total lack of info unless family member asked, then sometimes felt slightly like I was bothering staff as they are so very busy. Weekends seemds poorly staffed at times. Patient with dementia left for quite long periods in room alone without help to loo or help to have a walk. Assumed elderly spouse would do this!
Don't blame staff, just poorly resourced NHS. They do their best I'm sure, but when it's your relative then it is distressing to think of them left alone and confused.
