"Assuming isnt good enough - how can I find out more?"

About: Birmingham Children's Hospital

(as the patient),

My son was born with a hear murmur and a hole in his heart. He is nearly two and he has had to go to appointments every 6 months for a check up and heart scan. The appointment before November, they said that it looks like it has started to close up. At his last one, which was at the end of November 2008, I took my son to the hospital and as he wouldn’t sit still so the doctor could listen to his heart. He asked me to hold the stethoscope, so he could listen as my son wouldn’t let him do it. The doctor said he couldn’t hear anything and proceeded to do the heart scan on the machine. As my son was 17 months at the time, he was getting distressed but the doctor managed to do a quick scan in 5 minutes, even though previously they have lasted 30 minutes. The doctor then said he couldn’t hear a murmur or see a hole so he assumed it had gone. To me, assuming something has gone isn’t good enough. I have since tried to find out who I would have to get in touch with to get another appointment and to see if they can do anything else to check, but have had no such luck.
