"Awful experience of care for my dying husband"

About: County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust

(as a relative),

My husband died 2 years gone january. He had lung cancer. He was taken into hospital 14 days before he died.

They knew he was dying and the care he got was none. He lost his hearing due to the treatment such as chemo and radiotherapy.

He was just left in his chair all day. One day my son went in and he never even had a drink all day. Myself and my mam went in one day and he was in a lot of pain. He told us that he never had his medication. This was around 2pm when we went to see the nurses. They said it was because he was asleep so they didn't wake him. There is no way he could sleep with the pain he suffered.

He also fell twice and cut himself. On both occasions i was not informed - i found out when i went in to visit him.

There is loads of other things that happened, and were very distressing for me and all the family. I know it seems like a long time ago but i still have sleepless nights over this. I hope this does not happen to anyone else.
