"Treatment at the Day Care Centre & treatment..."

About: Good Hope Hospital

I had to see a consultant for a hernia, I first went to his clinic to discuss the problem, he was extremely nice and very professional, I had hardly any waiting time in the waiting room, many other clinics were busy and very behind time. we decided on a date and all was arranged, I went along to pre-op, this was excellent, professional and took so many details. I was to the day care centre for my procedure on 12th September at 1pm, reception staff were very nice, explained they were a little behind with having some emergencies and other patients not going on time, I However I waited a short time and called through, the nurse was excellent and professional, helpful and friendly, she showed me to my bed and explained everything to me, I was amazed how nice the unit was, clean, tidy and well organised, every member of staff was very nice and made me feel more relaxed as I was very nervous. The consultant and the male anaesthetist came to see me, they fully explained everything, asked me lots of questions and answered me fully and clearly but at the same time were very nice and friendly putting me at ease and not feeling so nervous. I felt very reassured after talking to them. I was taken to the operating theatre by a very nice nurse and met the anaesthetist was waiting for me , who again was very nice, chatty and putting me at ease, when I came round I had a nurse there who looked after me and made sure I was all ok, I was checked many times, offered water, then once back on the ward I was given tea toast and more water, again checked many times to make sure all was well and asking me if I was ok, the anaesthetist and the consultant came back to see me to make sure I was well, my operation was 4pm and I left the ward at 8pm, once all was well with me, before I left I had everything explained to me, the after care, the wound, and given lots of information and pain killers. I can only say good about the whole experience and how nice staff and the ward was. 11 days later I went back to see the consultant and again he was extremely nice and no waiting time for his clinic, excellent! the only thing that lets it all down is the parking, waiting for spaces and the cost. and your question asking me which department did I visit, does not have the day care centre listed, so had to leave it 'don't know'
