"I now know why NHS is failing"

About: King George Hospital

Have been going to the Rheumatology department of this hospital for close to 2 years now. the frequency of appointments given is appalling, first time we went we were asked to get some tests done and come back after 6 months. So what should be done in between for the condition the doctor did not say anything. After 6 months the doctor struggled to find the reports (i dont think they knew how to look it up in the computer) and ask us to come back in next appointment with some more tests. The appointment was given again after 3 months which was later rescheduled to 2 months later by a letter. In the next appointment i was told that its RA that i am suffering from which was a relief that something is found and a detailed discussion started on the type of medication and its side effects etc. it all was looking well but then at the end of appointment no prescription was given as it cannot be given by the Doctor and i need to see a Nurse and i was told a appointment will be scheduled. its been more than a month now no news about Nurse appointment or the treatment has come. With the weather cooling down the pain is becoming unbearable. its such a helpless situation. Extremely disappointing. Have been calling the hospital since last couple of days and no one picks up the phone in the Rheumatology dept inspite of it ringing for 35 minutes which meant my telephone bills this month will be hitting the roof. It feels there is a handshake with phone company and i hope NHS gets some share of the bill i receive.
