What I liked

The professionalism & helpfullness of all the staff involved in looking after my wife. Also the kindness extended to both myself & family at a very difficult time. I particularly would like to extend my thanks to all staff in wards 2b, 20 & ICU for their kindness. . Also I was impressed by the attention taken to the prevention of MRSA type problems with all the hand gel facilities at all wards.

What could be improved

Both my wife and I felt that consultants need to have a better understanding of patients and to treat them as people not just as a patient. Whilst no doubt they are highly skilled and knowledgeable they need to talk to people not down to them. Especially when a patient has a terminal illness! They really do need to improve their people skills!

Anything else?

I understand that NHS trusts have little money to spare, but please can something be done to alleviate the parking nightmare at visiting times. Perhaps when adding units to the hospital some thought could be given to a multi story carpark or underground parking. .
